Paul Morris

Paul joined Driscoll Young in 2006 and became a Partner in 2011. He is both a Police Station and Magistrates Court Duty Solicitor. Paul can be seen regularly at Police Stations and Courts in South Wales. He is approachable and takes pride in Driscoll Young offering a high level of client care. Paul is experienced in dealing with all criminal matters including motoring law, large scale fraud and serious cases in the Crown Court. He is responsible for supervision of fee earners and the day to day management of the firm.

Gareth Williams
Director/Solicitor Advocate
Gareth Williams is a Solicitor-Advocate. He joined Driscoll Young as a Partner in July of 2011. He qualified as a solicitor in 2000. He worked for 8 years in London appearing at Camberwell, Woolwich, Greenwich, South Western, Horseferry Road and Bow Street Magistrates Courts. He also appeared at Southwark, Woolwich and the Central Criminal Court. This has provided a background of dealing with a high volume of serious crime. He appears regularly in both the Magistrates Court and the Crown Court.

Oliver Jenkins
Head of Newport Branch / Associate Solicitor
Having studied Law and Politics LLB (Hons) and the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University, Oliver completed his Training Contract with the firm and qualified as a Solicitor in 2015. He is both a Police Station and Magistrates Court Duty Solicitor and now the Head of our Newport branch. A dedicated and talented individual who takes pride in the results he has achieved for clients throughout his career. He is a familiar face at the Magistrates’ Court and Police Station with a proven ability to build strong client relationships.

Joe Davis
Duty Solicitor
Joe is a Police Station and Magistrates’ Court Duty Solicitor who joined our team in 2022. He previously practiced criminal law in London for 7 years before moving to South Wales to start a family. He is a vastly experienced solicitor with a wide range of legal knowledge and understanding. He is diligent and dedicated, with a depth of experience that can be truly relied upon regardless of the complexity of the case. Before beginning his legal career Joe taught English as Foreign Language across Europe and Southeast Asia; returning to complete his LPC at Cardiff University and move into the legal profession. He also completed a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice with particular focus on Sports Law. In his spare time Joe is an avid writer and keen footballer.

Rod Young
Duty Solicitor
Rod is the most experienced criminal solicitor in Newport having been admitted in 1985. He has always specialised in criminal law and has dealt with a huge range of cases from minor motoring matters to complicated frauds and murders. Rod is always approachable and happy to give advice on any type of crime related problem however trivial it may appear.

Mitchell Woodman

Mitchell joined the firm as a Solicitor in June 2023 with previous experience in managing serious and complex Crown Court cases. Mitchell is an accredited Police Station Representative who particularly enjoys client facing work and advocacy in the Magistrates Court. Outside of work Mitchell has a keen interest in all things football and boxing.

Paige Florence
Accredited Police Station Representative
Paige is a Police Station Accredited Representative who is experienced at advising suspects of all types of offence at the police station. Paige is also heavily involved in the Crown Court department. Paige works with and assists Counsel with varied crown court cases including those charged with serious offences. Paige is best known for her high client care and supporting clients through these types of cases.
Paige studied Law at Swansea University in 2016. Paige completed the BTC in October 2022, being graded with ‘Very Competent’ with BPP University (London Holborn).

Christine Thomas
Trainee Solicitor
Christine joined Driscoll Young in 2023 and is a dedicated and ambitious Trainee Solicitor bringing a strong academic background and practical experience to her role. Her most recent qualifications include a GDL from the University of Law and LLM Legal Practice Course at the University of South Wales, where she graduated in 2022 with a Distinction. Currently, she is completing her Training Contract which is scheduled to finish in October 2024. As part of Driscoll Young’s Crown Court team,
Christine is actively working towards achieving full Police Station Accreditation and works closely with her supervisor Gareth Williams and the rest of the team.

Suzanne Sansom
Accounts Clerk
Suzanne joined Driscoll Young in 2005 having previously worked for local firms for over 25 years. She has worked exclusively in criminal defence throughout that period and has vast experience in this field. As well as her secretarial duties, Sue deals with all the accounts and book keeping for Driscoll Young.
