Public Order Offences

The criminal law in respect of public order offences is intended to penalise the use of violence and/or intimidation by individuals or groups. The principal public order offences are contained in the Public Order Act 1986.

However, given the number of public order offences punishable under the law of England and Wales, it can be relatively easy to find yourself accused.

These offences range from the most serious public disorder such as s.1 Riot or s.3 Affray, to as little as swearing in public which could lead to a charge under s.5 – causing harassment, alarm or distress.

Challenging a public order allegation can be an extremely complex matter requiring legal expertise and analysis of case law.

Our team is here to provide help at every stage and clients do not have to wait until arrest to speak with us – in fact, the earlier you seek advice, the better.

A conviction for even a minor offence can have far reaching consequences. To learn more about  how we can help, please get in touch with the team on 01633 266999 or ask for Driscoll Young Solicitors upon arrest.
